Provincial Nominee Programs

May 27, 2019 ( 0 ) Comment

Canada’s Provincial Nominee Program offers an opportunity for candidates to ficilate the process of migration.  According to this program participating areas are permitted to nominate a pre-decided number of immigration aspirants annually. These nominated candidates are eligible for applying for Permanent Residence in Canada. This dynamic program keeps evolving according to the demand of the hour. The introduction of the new multi – year immigration level plan has further boosted its effectiveness.

There are two types of Provincial nomination: the base nomination and the enhanced nomination. The enhanced nomination works in tandem with Canada’s Express Entry system that deals with applicants of three vital categories of immigrants: the Federal Skilled worker class, the Federal Skilled Trade Class, and the Canadian Experience class.

Applicants with both Express Entry and enhanced provincial nomination receive an additional 600 points to decide their ranking score. This in effect speeds up their eligibility to apply for permanent residence in Canada.

Though the base nomination category is excluded from this Express Entry, candidates in this category are also eligible to apply for permanent residence. However, the process takes a longer time for them.

Four Canadian provinces have introduced new plans in view of the revisions made to PNP.

Sastakchewan has revised its in Demand occupation List. This affects its international Skilled Worker Express Entry sub- category as well as its base International Worker sub category. Candidates under both must have work experience in a listed occupation although they do not need a job offer. With the in-demand occupation list adding another 20 to 24 new occupation the SINP effectively reflects the most recent labor needs. Canada Immigration Services in Ahmedabad

Ontario expects to nominate 6,900 candidates for permanent residence status in 2019. This is an increase of 300 over last year and includes 250 slots for the intermediate skilled temporary foreign workers category. The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program will be responsible for handling all nominations therein.

Ontario has also launched a popular Masters Graduate Stream base nomination for candidates with valid Master’s degrees from designated Universities in Ontario.

Nova Scotia has linked its Express Entry to Labor Market Priority so that candidates with work experience in specific fields like financial auditing and accounting can be accommodated. The Stream explores Express Entry pools to identify appropriate candidates for occupations experiencing labor shortage in different provinces.

Manitoba’s renewal program has added the Skilled Workers in Manitoba and Skilled Workers Overseas streams to its existing Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program. The new Human Capital Pathway considers skilled international worker candidates best suited to fill positions in in-demand lists. This is in addition to the on-going applications under the Skilled Worker Overseas Scheme.

The initiatives and innovations in the PNP have opened up avenues for candidates looking to work in and apply for Permanent Residence in Canada. To make the system work in one’s favor, whether as an express entry candidate or a candidate from the base stream, it is necessary to keep oneself up to date on the changing scenario of the PNP landscape.
